MyTime is a parent and carer support group funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services, and nationally coordinated by the Parenting Research Centre. CliniKids runs a MyTime group on behalf of the Parenting Research Centre.
MyTime is a fun, relaxed way to meet other parents and carers of children with chronic illness and/or disabilities.
The CliniKids MyTime group runs on Tuesday mornings, 9.30 -11.30. The groups run for eight weeks of each school term. Term 1 groups commence on Tuesday 12th February, with the final group for the term being held on Tuesday the 2nd April.
The group runs from Carson St School, East Vistoria Park.
19 Carson St, East Victoria Park.
There is free parking available on site close to the building. The building is wheelchair and pram accessible. The group runs from one of the classrooms at the school with plenty of opportunities for the children to play outside in an enclosed playground.
A broad range of people attend MyTime groups. Our group is mostly attended by parents of pre-school and early age school age children. The children at the group range in age from young babies to children attending kindergarten. Older children are also welcome to attend. The ability levels of the children vary.
You can come to as many or as few sessions as you like.
Each group is different, with different activities on a weekly basis. Most weeks there will be a:
Mat time with songs
Table top activities
Outside play and snack time are a great opportunity for parents and carers to catch up over a cup of tea or coffee. In term one our theme is pirates (weeks 1-6) and Easter (weeks 7 and 8). We also have the following guest speakers and special activities arranged:
19th February - Occupational Therapist guest speaker discussing building independence in daily living skills.
5th March - Sing N Grow incursion
19th March - Psychologist guest speaker discussing toileting
Please bring along a snack and drink bottle for your child and a hat if it is a warm day. Some days we do messy play activities so it is helpful to bring along a change of clothes for your child. Once you have attended the group we will text you beforehand if it is a messy play day.
The MyTime website has lots of useful information about MyTime groups including their locations around Western Australia. Each group is run by a different provider organisation so will have different activities and a different structure.
