Paediatric Autism Communicaton (PACT) Online Training Course
CliniKids and the University of Manchester are offering PACT training for the first time in Australia
PACT is a training program designed for parents of young children with autism. It helps parents understand and communicate more effectively with their child by promoting the development of social communication.
Level One - Introductory training A half-day e-learning program which covers the theory behind PACT and begins to introduce PACT concepts. Delegates must complete Level One training before beginning Level Two - PACT practitioner training.
Level Two - PACT practitioner training 4 half days of online training with a PACT trainer covering the core principles and the current evidence for PACT, demonstrating the model in use through video. The training also provides opportunities for practical application of the concepts through role play. Training is followed by 2.5 days of post course supervision and support to complete the post-course fidelity requirements.
Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP) Training Course
CliniKids are pleased to be offering Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP) training in October 2020.
The CO-OP approach, originally developed for children with developmental coordination disorder (often referred to as dyspraxia) has achieved excellent outcomes for children and it is likely the approach has the potential to also be beneficial to many children with autism.
The CO-OP approach is client-centred and encourages individuals to be involved in the goal setting and in the developing of cognitive strategies to help them achieve tasks of everyday living.
This performance-based therapy approach can be used with children who struggle with everyday tasks such as dressing, grooming, handwriting or cycling, and has been shown to be successful for children with a variety of diagnoses who experience difficulties with learning or re-learning motor based skills.
There are no restrictions or requirements for attending the course. However, to become certified in delivering CO-OP therapy, you must be a registered occupational therapist, physiotherapist, or other qualified rehabilitation specialist.
Date: Training: 23rd & 24th October 2020, Consolidation: 6th February 2020
Venue: CliniKids, 100 Roberts Road, Subiaco WA
* Please note: due to COVID-19 and the current travel restrictions to Western Australia, this course may be offerred online. All registered attendees will be notified of any changes to the delivery mode.
